The Disability Services Commission’s (DSC) state-funded Accommodation Support programme supports independence for individuals with a high level of physical disability living in the community. The Foundation administers the DSC programme and was one of the first Western Australian agencies to administer domestic care and support under the state initiative.
The Home Care Support programme is designed to make living at home a viable option. Services include:
- Personal care — assistance with bathing, showering, eating, grooming and medication prompting.
- Domestic support — meal preparation, cleaning, shopping or paying bills.
- Community access — helping you access and enjoy social and community activities.
- Respite care — substitute care services to support you and your family.
- Funding application assistance — helping you with complete applications for DSC funding through the Combined Application Process (CAP) to pay for home care services. The DSC uses the CAP to offer accommodation and intensive family support. Australian residents with a severe or profound disability (where the disability manifests before the age of 65) can apply.
- Support worker management — advertising for and interviewing potential carers, drafting and coordinating contractual agreement between client and carer, and administering carer’s wages.
(Private services are also accessible on a fee-for-service basis.)
The Community Services Coordinator provides administrative assistance and manages service delivery to clients within the programme whilst observing Disability Services Standards. Services are focused on the individual’s needs within the context of the specified service.

How does it work?
Step 1. Call the Community Services Coordinator to arrange an appointment.
Step 2. Design a home care plan and budget that suits your individual needs.
Step 3. We can assist with DSC CAP funding to pay for services. Alternatively, you can access services on a fee-for-service basis.
Step 4. Select a suitable carer from a list of available candidates. All carers are required to have a current National Police Certificate and undergo continuous training modules.
Step 5. Your home care service begins!
